Bank Transfer Payment Methods with Tesorio Pay

Which bank transfer options your customers see in the Tesorio Pay portal, and how to control them

How Bank Transfer Methods Are Chosen

When a customer pays in the portal, Tesorio Pay shows the bank transfer method that fits that customer's country and currency. Both have to match. If they don't, the customer can still pay by card, but the portal doesn't show a bank transfer option.

Bank transfer isn't available for other currencies, such as AUD. Customers paying in those currencies can pay by card.

Note: You must enable each bank transfer method for your account before customers can see it. To check which methods are on, contact Tesorio Support.

Where the Country Comes From

Tesorio Pay uses the customer's billing country from the customer record synced from your ERP.

  • If the billing country is blank, it uses the customer's address country instead.

  • If both are blank, the portal treats the customer as US-based.

A common reason a non-US customer sees ACH, or sees no bank transfer option, is a missing billing country. To fix it, update the customer record in your ERP and let it sync to Tesorio.

Where the Currency Comes From

The currency depends on what the customer is doing in the portal:

  • Paying invoices at checkout: the currency of the invoices being paid.

  • Saving a payment method in Preferences: the customer's default currency on the customer record, or USD if none is set.

This lets the same customer see different options in different places. To keep the options consistent, set the customer's default currency to match the currency you invoice them in.

BACS accounts are added in Preferences only. Customers can't add a new BACS account at checkout because setting up a BACS account can take a few days. A UK customer can only add BACS if their default currency on the customer record is GBP. For example, a UK customer whose default currency is USD can't add a BACS account, even if they have GBP invoices.

Customers Paying Without Signing In

Customers who pay through a guest link, without signing in to the portal, can pay by ACH only. You control whether guests can pay by ACH via the Guest Checkout Settings of your Portal setup.

Currently, BACS, SEPA, and EFT require the customer to sign in to the portal.

If you send portal links to customers in the UK, Europe, or Canada, ask them to create an account or sign in so their bank transfer option appears.

Troubleshooting: A Customer Doesn't See the Expected Option

  1. Check the billing country on the customer record in your ERP. Make sure it's filled in and correct.

  2. Check the currency of the invoices they're paying, and the customer's default currency if they're saving a method. For BACS, the default currency must be GBP.

  3. Confirm the country and currency pair appears in the table above. For example, a EUR customer based in the US won't see SEPA.

  4. Make sure the customer is signed in if they need BACS, SEPA, or EFT.

  5. Confirm the method is turned on for your account with Tesorio Support.
