Generate Payment Link for Customers

Updated over a week ago

📌 Permission required: AR :: Manage :: Invoice, Customer, Credit Memo, Customer Payment Record Management

Users are able to access the portal using a secure tokenized link generated specifically for their company. Links are available by default for up to 14 days unless specified otherwise in your portal settings. If a user clicks an expired link, Tesorio will automatically generate an updated link for immediate access after confirming that the user email is still valid. (This only applies if users are guest users and not authenticated portal users with an account.) Users can request a link refresh up to 90 days after it was initially sent.

Payment Portal Link in the Drawer

When opening up the drawer in a workspace, such as the Invoice or Customer workspace, a button exists to create the tokenized link to the Payment Portal. This link can be used by customers to pay or view invoices. Access the button by opening the drawer and selecting the copy button.

Payment Portal Link on Customer Profile

When you are in a customer profile, you can access the Payment Portal link by clicking the three dots on the top right, and selecting "Copy Payment Portal Link."

Link Variable in Email Editor

The Payment Portal link can be created and sent to customers through the email editor in the drawer. In the body of the email, you can insert variables, including the ability to add this link to an email. Navigate to the notes and emails tab, choose to compose an email, and then in the body of the mail, insert a variable. Three variables are available:

  • Link where recipients can visit the portal as a guest without signing in

  • The same link as above formatted as a button

  • Link where recipients will be promoted to create a portal account or sign in

In order for the payment link to appear in Tesorio, the subsidiary that the customer resides in must be connected to Stripe.

Payment Link Expiry

When a guest user tries to access the payment portal with an expired tokenized link, they’ll be redirected to a page where they can request a new link by entering their email address.

They will receive an email containing a new tokenized link for use. To receive a new link, the provided email must match a contact associated with the customer (or the invoice, if that option is enabled) and must have the necessary permissions to access the portal.

New links can only be requested if the original token expired within the last 90 days. After that, the token becomes invalid for reissue.

Please note: new links will not be generated for customers who are disabled.
